The Belvac 595LT Light Tester uses proven SENCON technology to provide high speed light inspection for pin holes and split flanges after the necking process.
The system may be installed as an add-on turret for an open station of an existing Belvac Fixed Base machine, or it may be integrated into an existing, or new Belvac Modular Base System. In either case, no additional trackwork, accumulation systems or line control systems are required, which reduces the possibility of can handling damage. If a plant's layout requires, a Stand Alone Unit is also available.
The 595LT Light Tester turret positions the cans on a rubber seal by injecting air into the can as it enters the turret. The flanged end of the can is seated against this seal to eliminate ambient light and expands the can to reveal defects that may have been covered by varnish. The rubber seals can easily be reversed for extended use.
An upper light assembly, conveniently installed on the turret's guards, contains eight Quartz halogen bulbs that shine light directly onto the cans as they pass through the turret. A solid state sensor is used to detect leaks.
Rejection rates of 100% have been achieved on cans with 0.002 inch (0.0508 mm) diameter pin holes and split flanges. Rejected cans are ejected out of the turret by an air jet located on the can guide, which eliminates mechanical reject devices that have been a source of high maintenance and missed rejects.
A unique shutter test mode has been incorporated into the 595LT to allow two major tests to be performed. The first is the shutter assembly and lens cleanliness test which allows daily monitoring of light leakage and accumulated contaminants on the lens. This test is easily performed, without test cans or production interruption, from the Light Tester Operator Station.
Over time, production debris builds up and compromises light integrity. The second major shutter test allows operators to reset the lower light limit using 0.002" (0.0508mm) diameter pinhole test cans and is also easily performed from the Light Tester Operator Station. This test may be performed during production as well. The Operator's use of the daily cleanliness test above reduces the frequency of calibration.
The 595LT Light Tester turret comes with its own electrical control panel and Operator Control Panel for efficient installation and operation.
Rejection of pin-hole cans is provided by an air jet on the can guide. This eliminates mechanical reject devices, which have been a source of high maintenance and missed rejects on older systems.

A highly sensitive and reliable solid state sensor is used to detect pin holes as small as 0.002 inches (0.0508 mm) diameter and split flanges.
